mixed media collage..vintage sheet music and gray lumber

Hello everyone..
I'm posting from my creative space where I
dream and dream some more.
In this cozy and sometimes, very cluttered room,
I also create. It's the place where I am learning to
define the gypsy soul that dwells inside of me.

I am seeking.
I am striving.
I am in it with all my heart.
Vincent Van Gogh

My thoughts and ideas stumble over each other and try
to find a place of validation through the work of my hands.

BLISS

Here is the place where I escape one
reality to enter another.
Both are places of contentment but they
are usually worlds apart!
Upon occasion, they find a way
to blend in perfect harmony.

Today, I'd like to share with you one of the few
mixed media projects that I've done.
I love to work in this realm.
It's like a reckless abandon through
 my creative spirit.

What would life be if we had no courage to
attempt anything?
Vincent Van Gogh

These projects usually take me a long time
because I have not yet learned to fully
let my heart lead and I worry about
making a mess or mistake. I also am
learning about color, texture and balance.

And I am always open to suggestions
 and re-direction :)
I have been thinking of beginning a
sort of study of the Masters.
Any suggestions or recommendations here?

I love this quote by Vincent Van Gogh.

I long so much to make beautiful things.
But beautiful things require effort,
disappointment and perseverance.

Does it speak to you?

******

There is so much going on here
(maybe too much) that it would be too
lengthy to explain the entire process.

But here is a list of the "ingredients"...

vintage sheet music
gray lumber
gesso
acrylic paint
glitter
stamping ink
hot glue
tacky glue
matte gel
alcohol ink

rubber stamps
stencils
sissix dies
paint brushes
silk

paper
brads beads
string
rusty nuts
rusty washers
carpet tacks

fabric
lace
buttons
old bookbinding
zipper
tulle
silk

Gesso was brushed on the sheet music
first and then I painted over it with
a creamy white paint to soften the white.

I painted a red heart and chose my
co-ordinating colors and began to build.
I'm learning to thin paint and to use it
to splatter.. I love the look.
Expression without a box.
Still in the planning stage..
Adding some sparkle and glitz...

All finished..

Wishing you good things and
thank you so much for stopping by.

Tamara xoxo

Hello Tamara
A beautiful heartfelt work in mixed media. You have done a great job. I know every piece of art I create is a learning process for me.
If you love what you create that is all that matters.
When you say you want to study the masters I was wondering how you were to go about this. I love especially a few artists and read about them and use their works in my own artwork and that is enough for me and I feel fulfilled.
Sending lots of encouragement as we all need that,
Hugs,
Suzy

Thank you so much Suzy <3 You're always so encouraging and I appreciate your kind words so. I guess the learning never ends. I do enjoy what I make... most of the time. In the Master's study, my thoughts were to find a few favorites and then study their techniques ... mindsets and colors and texture. I would be interested in know who your favorites are. You have obviously learned well as your work is very beautiful and so highly esteemed! It's wonderful that you are fulfilled. That in itself is priceless. Have a lovely day..

Many hugs to you <3

First of all Tamara,
I want to thank you for taking the time to visit me, a new friendship is always inspiring to me.
As for your passion in art I hear you, and need I mention as quoted from a Van Morisson song YOU ROCK MY GYPSY SOUL !
Anyone who has a true passion for art I totally get on so many levels....living it, breathing it is not enough is it?
Not to worry about protecting your art or style, don't over think it or force it .... I always say some of my best pieces were my biggest mistakes :)

Art is a form of breathing each breath holds the next step in living it.... You just go with it, find the best and worst pieces to create with and magic will take place.
Love your collages, mixed in beauty and rust.

Come visit my etsy shop and sold pieces perhaps today is the first day of each of us being inspired by each other. It's there you will find a range of my creative art pieces that truly come about from just creating.

I am going to look around your blog to get to know you much better here, please feel free to do so at my place.
Take in all around you the art we see, even I the rusty pieces that lay around as junk to the grounds we walk on.

Beautiful days ahead of you, and all that you create.

Xx

Dore..
What a pleasure it is to visit your lovely blog and to see your art work. So inspiring. Thank you for your gracious and very encouraging words. I was very grateful and so excited when I read them! To know that someone understands my heart. The breathing it and the desire to create always burning, burning.. and yes, you're right! it is never enough. And the music of Van Morrison? Yes! Into The Mystic and Moondance are just a couple of my favorites.

Your wisdom about the worry and taking too much care spoke to me..and will help me have a peace when I feel a little lost.

I did visit your Etsy and thank you for the invitation to look around on your blog. I am most inspired by the work you do and I am in awe of how so much of it is with raw materials. I LOVE that and find it so beautifully and truly authentic. <3

I, too, understand the desire to take in the beauty. Sometimes I just can't quite comprehend it all.

Thank you for coming and leaving me these gold nuggets of inspiration and encouragement. It meant so much and it came at just the time when I needed it. It's good to connect with someone who truly does "get it" :)

Wishing you all that is lovely, inspiring and fulfilling<3

This is such a lovely expression Tamara!
A great mix of texture and color and style~
Using natural things like wood as a base I think
gives such a great jumping off point> : ) Though I am
mostly a paper crafter, I do like to reach out & use other media & texture,
and work like yours here is such an inspiration and encouragement to me!
Thank you for sharing~ Karen
